Melania Trump’s speechwriter is a registered Democrat

The Trump staffer who took the fall for lifting several passages of Melania Trump’s speech from an earlier address by Michelle Obama is a registered Democrat in New York, public records show.

Meredith McIver, a longtime writer for the Trump organization, admitted that she had helped Melaniacompose the speech she delivered at the GOP convention Monday night.

Melania, she said, had read her several passages of Obama’s 2008 speech to the Democratic convention over the phone and she mistakenly inserted them into the speech, she admitted in a statement.  More
