Ted Cruz promises school children that if his wife becomes first lady, 'French fries are coming back to the cafeteria'

Ted Cruz is targeting a new constituency in the final days of his Iowa campaign: Happy Meal lovers.

'Let me say something to the school-aged kids here,' he said during a rally tonight in Des Moines. 'If Heidi Cruz becomes the next first lady, French fries are coming back to the cafeteria.'

Cruz rolled out the line as he made one last pass through the state as he concluded is bid to become Iowa's pick to represent the GOP in the presidential election.
